I am writing this profile on behalf of my sister, Susan Coney. She is 47 years old from Lewiston, N.Y., who needs a kidney; her blood type is O+. Sue has Polycystic Kidneys which was inherited by my mother’s side of the family. I also have the same disease as well as many of our relatives, so we are unable to donate one of ours. When my mother had her transplant she did very well and lived a good productive life. Sue had put her life on hold to care for my mother when she was sick and now Sue is sick. She did everything doctors told her to do; she ate healthy, doesn’t drink, or smoke and still went into kidney failure. My sister has a husband and two sons who need her healthy for them. She is now on dialysis three days per week for three hours each treatment. She has been on the transplant list for two years. She has been the nurturing one in the family and has always found time to help family and friends, so we know we can always count on her. Sue was also a school bus driver for the Lewport School District until she became too sick, the children and their parents all loved her. She also volunteered at the Lewiston#2 fire hall in the Ladies Auxiliary for 25 years. She has worked weddings, funeral lunches, many fund raisers, and even held office. Sue has helped and cared for many people and I would hope that someone could turn things around and help her and show her all her work has not gone unnoticed. Each week we are watching her get weaker and tired but she doesn’t complain, so not to worry us. So please if there is any possible way you could be a match please help my sister there is too many of us that need her.
