I am writing regarding my son Randy. He is 56 years old and has type O blood. He is on dialysis and in great need of a kidney. I cannot donate to him, as I am 83 years old. His father who was an electrical engineer and the first in his family to graduate from college died many years ago. Randy's sister unfortunately cannot be a donor for him. Randy was born in Illinois but raised in Buffalo. He graduated from Bennett High School. He played football and was All High in baseball and attended college on an athletic scholarship. Randy loved being active and also coached girls softball.
Randy has struggled with diabetes and the problems that come with it. Right now he is at a nursing facility receiving care for some diabetes related complications, but he is eager to leave there and get into his own apartment. He is a strong man who has persevered through many difficulties, but he does not give up. He is optimistic that he will get a second chance on life.
If you are interested in doing something wonderful for someone, and are willing to be tested to be a living kidney donor for Randy, you may contact him at 853-1231. You may also reach me at 837-5320 or email Randy's sister Denise at cospice@verizon.net. Randy is listed at Buffalo General Hospital 859-1345. Thank you for taking the time to read his story.
