Allison is not only my sister, but one of my very best friends. She is always good for a laugh and has a wonderful sense of humor and a heart Family and friends are so important to her, and she is loved so much by so many people. At the age of 18, Allison was diagnosed with kidney disease based on suspicious results from her college physical. We all had so many worries and questions, but Alli has gone through all of this with the best attitude possible and with such bravery. She is truly an inspiration, and I think her positive attitude has made all the difference in the world. Now 21 years old, Allison is about to begin peritoneal dialysis. She is on the donor list, but we hope to have a living donor soon- what a wonderful Christmas gift it would be to know that she will have a new kidney in the near future; we wouldn't need or want another thing! My Dad was tested and hoped to give her one of his kidneys, but he was ruled out due to a small health problem. I know there are a lot of kind people in this world; we just don't hear about them as often as we hear about the bad ones. Thank you for taking the time to read her profile, and please know that by becoming a donor- you would not only positively change the life of the recipient, but also impact all of their family and friends more than words can express. July 27, 2007 - Christina Smith gave the Gift of Life to Allison Lantz. Thank you so much Christine - you are truly a hero. Allison has a very close family and I know that she is grateful that you are now a part of it. God Bless you Both. Allisons definition of a hero: Anyone who considers themselves truly happy, anyone who lives life the fullest, anyone who can stop and appreciate the little things that life has to offer, anyone who doesn't take things for granted. And Christina Smith. She saved my life. |
