I am nine years old and this is my Grandpa (Pah) Thomas Lorenc. He is 66 years old and lives in Alden, New York. My Pah was a firefighter in Buffalo and liked to do things outside and around the house. But now it is hard from him to do the stuff he likes because he needs a kidney. My Pah got sick back in 2004 and had to go on dialysis. He used to go three times a week, for four hours a day, it made him very weak and tired. About a year ago he was able to switch over to peritoneal dialysis. This means he can do it at home. The only problem is that he has to do it 3 or 4 four times a day - everyday. When I was little and my Pah was better he used to take me for rides on his grass cutter, and take me to lunch at McDonald’s or Ted’s, he even used to push me on a swing on his back patio. I want to have a lot more memories of my Pah, but I see how sick my Pah is and it makes me sad. Because my Pah needs a kidney and needs treatments and gets real tired, we can’t do a lot of the fun stuff we used to do. Hopefully anyone who reads this will consider helping him so I can make more memories with my Pah. Please e-mail him at tlorenc@earthlink.net to help him. OR contact Nancy Blizniak at ECMC |
