In June of 2008, I became very ill and was hospitalized at Millard Fillmore Suburban. Just prior to my hospitalization, my blood pressure started going up and my doctor ordered a CAT scan of my kidneys. That day, the day of my CAT Scan (with contrast dye), was the last day I pee'd to any extent.

I was told that my kidney failure was a result of TTP-HUS (Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura - Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome. I have been on dialysis since my first hospitalization and have had 2 more hospitalizations to receive plasmapheresis treatments (a total of 31 so far). I just recently went through Rituxan IV treatments in an attempt to put the TTP into remission.

I'm 58 years old, a 1968 graduate of Lockport High School, retired after 36 years from the Niagara County Highway Department in 2005, and had been working as a part-time / summer employee of the Town of Cambria Highway Department until my illness in June of 2008.

For over 40 years I was a crew member of Rudolph Racing of Ransomville, NY, having worked with 3 generations of the Rudolph family in their various racing endeavors.

I am married to Anita, have one son, Dan Jr., and have three granddaughters, 8 year old twins, Hailey and Kylie, and 4 year old Alyssa. Neither my wife nor my son is a donor match.

My Blood type is B.
