I'm a 38 year old female, who recently had a beautiful baby boy on October 19, 2008. I also have a beautiful 10 year old daughter who is very active. I am a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital, I have been out of work since August 18th, 2008, due to complications in my pregnancy. Eight weeks into my pregnancy the doctors started finding protein in my urine as the pregnancy progressed the protein increased and my blood pressure went up. After doing blood work ect. it showed I had a problem with my kidneys. After I delivered 3 and a half weeks early, a kidney biopsy was done and showed I had TTP and HUS, my kidneys were filled with microscopic clots. The doctor at that time had told me it was a very rare condition and plasmaphorisis needed to be done along with Dialysis, due to bloodwork showing i had kidney failure. November 7, 2008, my body filled with fluid I had CHF and my lungs needed a thoracentisis done. Now I'm home continuing dialysis daily if needed and have home care coming to my home for myself and help with my newborn. I pray daily that my kidneys get better but they are not. I believe there is a donor for me and wish I can have a chance to see my children grow up and live so I can help and teach others in the future about this disease.
