I was diagnosed with CKD not too long after I met my boyfriend. The doctor at that time really didn't care whether I lived or died. I am now married to this wonderful man this is my second marriage, I lost my first husband to death in 2004, he lost his first wife to death in 2006.
With the help of my wonderful renal doctor here I am still alive and waiting for a kidney going on two years, praise God.
I enjoy writing poetry and working on my website and designing websites, I enjoy the simple things in life that sometimes get forgotten in this hectic world as we all rush by. I love walking in the sun hand in hand with my husband, just enjoying a new day. He and I enjoy what we have in each other, we enjoy riding motorcycles and riding in his restored Studebakers. He is a Vietnam Vet so we ride in Rolling Thunder every Memorial Day down to Washington. DC to honor those who have fallen.
He is my support and I am his. I am blessed for the family I have. I have had 3 family members test and fail due to their own kidney function tests so I am seeking a donor.
I believe that we all need to take care of this wonderful planet that we live on for it is the only one we have. I am very active in animal rights and welfare and environmental causes. We need to protect all that is upon this planet for our future, and our children's future. We also need to care for each other for we also live on this earth .
What would I tell a potential donor? I would tell you that it is the gift of life, that God gave us two kidneys for a reason, and that if you are a healthy person and a person with a big heart and care for others then you might want to share that gift. It takes a good person who is willing to step forward and not be selfish to give of themselves to another.
I was given my work-up and put on the National Transplant Waiting list in June 2008. I am considered healthy overall except for my kidneys.
Know that I and others who are waiting will cherish that gift and care for it till the day we die. We thank you.
